Talking To God, apt. 2 - Deante Hitchcock
…At what point did you think you weren’t enough..
Why do you apologize if you feel like you’re being too much, but still feel like you’re not enough.
When did you adopt this? Can you take it back? Do you want to?
How much has your mental health journey been apart of your identity?
Why do you feel like if you heal, you won’t know who you are without your depression?
Why do you take on shame because of your joy, just because those around you aren’t happy?
You use your sorrow to identify with others.
It’s the only way you know how to deal with people huh?
You don’t know how to separate yourself from regretful idealism.
Allow the outcome to be what it is.
The process of forgiving myself for the things I did in hopes for love and connection. For acceptance?
A functioning depressed bitch.
What am I really okay with ?
I’m the judge.
I’m the biggest judge.
Not wanting to be judged by others …when I was the biggest judge.
My optimism was just ominous playing dress up.
I had to recognize and own that.
But the thing about joy, is that it doesn’t really need optimism. It doesn’t need your thoughts. Joy is source. It’s own source that operates without influence. It’s concrete. Joy isn’t looking for a reason to be hopeful, it’s certain.
Joy walks around with unlimited gaiety knowing that it’s joy.
Sadness walks around hoping that it can find joy.
Joy isn’t searching for anything. It just is.
“Whatever brings you joy—that’s your luxury.” — Tyler Baudelaire
So what is your, “just is”?
What doesn’t cause you to question?
What doesn’t cause you to doubt?
What doesn’t cause you to worry?
What doesn’t cause you to fear?
What do you not even think about losing?
That’s your joy. Understand and learn everything about your Joy.
Make it a part of you. So that’s it’s never from you.
